Significance: Indicated as an open space on the L'Enfant Plan, this intersection was developed in the nineteenth century as two triangle reservations. As part of the Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corporation plan of the 1960-80s, it was redesigned as a large park featuring the central portion of the L'Enfant Plans as the pavement scheme.
