White Deer Lake Camp, Library Cabin, Cyrus H. McCormick Experimental Forest, Champion, Marquette County, MI
Summary
Significance: In a memo, Gordon McCormick refers to this as the 1904 cabin and as being the first cabin built. 1904 appears to be a reasonable date of construction, as Cyrus Bentley's diary documents their first visit to the area occurring in 1902. The only alterations documented were to the chimney-fireplace about 1936. A plan specified reusing existing stone in fireplace.
