Summary
Significance: Built between 1767-72 by Daniel Blake, a planter at Newington Plantation on Ashley River, is an imposing brick Georgian style double dwelling, 3 1/2 stories high. Dual pedimented entries, highlighted with scrolled brackets, articulate the symmetrical facade. Double front stairways to the elevated first floor have notable wrought iron railings. The eastern tenement retains original Georgian details, considered among the finest carved in Charleston in the 18th century.
