Fort Moultrie, West Fort Street & Central Avenue, Sullivans Island, Charleston County, SC

Significance: On this site, the first fort was the scene of an important victory during the American Revolution. The third and present fort played an important part in the attack on Fort Sumter which opened the Civil War.
