Production. B-24 bombers and C-87 transports. An assembled wing center section for a consolidated transport plane is lifted from the wing bucks by a monorail crane at a Western aircraft plant. This new transport, an adaptation of the B-24 bomber, is known as the C-87, and carries one of the greatest human or cargo loads of any plane now in mass production. It is built in a plant equipped with one of the best air conditioning and fluorescent lighting systems in the country

Significance: The growth of the ranch illustrates the expansion of a small 19th century homestead to one of the largest stock raising operations in the Pinon Canyon area of Las Animas County.
