Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Brick Officers' Quarters, Type B, Dayton, Montgomery County, OH

description

Summary

Significance: The residence of the commanding officer (also known as the Robins House for its first occupant, Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins) was erected along with the other buildings in the Brick Quarters beginning in March of 1934. The Quarters, a Type "B" plan, is the only one of its kind in the complex. In addition to being the largest of the residences, it displays the highest level of Tudor-style detailing, including expanded timber-framing details, patterned brickwork, and a large, narrow, three-part window which lights a stairhall to the front of the house.

Survey number: HAER OH-103-B

Building/structure dates: 1935 Initial Construction
