Baltic nurses shave their heads. As a precaution against infection from the typhus carriers the nurses in the American hospital at Riga cut their hair and shave their heads. This nurse is a member of the former Russian Red Cross and many of her number have given splendid cooperation to the work of the American Red Cross in the Baltic states where there is still great need of medicines and food owing to the influx of refugees from other parts of Russia
