Summary
Significance: Bellmawr Park was constructed in 1941 and consisted of 500 units, as part of a joint federal program with the Congress of Industrial Organizations for workers at local shipyards who could not afford to buy homes. The community, along with Audubon Park and Pennypack Woods
in Northeast Philadelphia, were also testing sites for "mutual," or cooperative home ownership and new concepts in community planning, modern architecture and mass-produced housing. 38 & 40 Victory Drive is a single story, vernacular duplex in a minimalist ranch style house design.
