B.F. Forrester, Sr. Farmstead, 0.2 miles northeast of the intersection of Bearden and Boz Roads, Waxahachie, Ellis County, TX
Summary
Significance: The farmstead is a rural complex that has remained within the same family for over 20 years. The property, which includes a house, barn, cistern, and a well, illustrates the legacy of one of the most prominent families in the farming community of Boz in western Ellis County. Although B.F. Forrester farmed a significant amount of his land himself, he leased other tracts to cotton-growing tenant farmers, who contributed to Ellis County's successful cotton trade of the late-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The Forrester Farmstead is associated with a successful cotton farming family of the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries, but also reflects the prominence and status landowners achieved through the efforts of their tenant farmers - the backbone of the local cotton-dependent economy during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
