DCM 0603: Thibouville frères Fife in C or D-flat
Summary
Although this instrument has a key which would imply its being a flute, so-called, it is probably best to term it a fife based on information cited in an 1890 catalog from Martin Thibouville aîné which pictures essentially the same instrument as a "Fifre (...pour bataillon scolaire)." Key Holes System: 1/6 plus 1 key (D#) plus 2 vent holes, cylindrical. Modern post and rod, direct mount.
Mark Maximum: (lyre) / Thibouville / Frères (cursive) / IVRY (EURE) (in oval cartouche) / (5-pointed star) / BREVETÉS / S.G.D.G. / [Fidel Aimée?] (cursive)
Condition: Cap missing.
