Summary

Allegorical drawing shows such Greek muses as Minerva, goddess of war and knownledge (center), and to her left muses of the arts and to her right, such artisans as shipbuilders, blacksmiths, silversmiths, architects, and clockmakers. The certificate was used for the Fourteenth Exhibition in 1881.
Inscribed on verso: Drawing by A. Billings for certificate for Mass Charitable Mechanics Assoc engraved by S.A. Schoff. See supplementary drawing substituted for front of this. Given to me by Mr. Schoff, Sept. 1891. K.
