Significance: The first building completed on the post. Converted to a commissary and eventually to office use during World War II. Completed October 22, 1899, from QMGO Plan No. 91-B. Original cost: $7,405. One and one-half story plus basement frame construction on sandstone foundation. Dimensions: 124' x 31'. Gabled roof has slate shingles, two ventilators, one corbelled chimney. Lapped cedar siding. Six-over-six light, double-hung sash. Basement has original cement floors and two rows of stone-capped brick piers. Main floor substantially altered. Loading dock removed and several entrances, loading doors, and windows on east facade changed from original configuration ca. 1940. Porches added and interior converted to offices at same time. Plasterboard, plywood and acoustical tiles applies and new partitions constructed. Electricity installed ca. 1908. Originally heated by stoves, now by oil-fired steam boiler.
