Summary

Significance: Building T-1039 is a Ward, Type C-H, with a 33-bed capacity (31 beds in an open ward, two beds in individual rooms next to the ward office). There are seven Type C-H Wards located throughout the hospital area (except the northeast quadrant), and, according to the 1943 Annual Report to the Surgeon General, these were constructed during that year in response to a shortage of patient beds at McCoy.
