M.C. Iowa. Presented credentials as a Whig Senator elect to U.S. Senate and took seat Dec. 31, 1855, owing to irregularities in the legislative proceedings the Senate declared the seat vacant Jan. 12, 1857. Re-elected in 1857 to fill vacancy thus created.
