Norris Farm, House, .5 mile west of County Road 857 & .25 mile east of County Road 88/1, Cheat Neck, Monongalia County, WV
Summary
Significance: Constructed in three different periods between ca. 1780 and ca. 1935, the main house on the Norris Farm demonstrates the development of mid-Atlantic farm architecture. The dwelling was constructed originally as a log house (that is still visible in the interior of the present structure) during the early settlement of the region. Through the years, as the family's needs grew, additions were constructed. Although the exterior has been modified with aluminum siding, the interior still conveys the periods in which the house was originally constructed and modified. The log walls from the original two-story house are completely exposed in the living room and one of the bedrooms. Wood floors, cabinetry, and fireplaces remain original to the house.
