Old Colony Building, 407 South Dearborn Street, Chicago, Cook County, IL
Summary
Significance: The building is an example of the work of the Chicago firm of Holabird and Roche. Since the high, narrow, slab-like structure is almost entirely freestanding and without masonry bearing walls, an elaborate system of windbracing was employed. This was regarded as a remarkable structural achievement for the time.
