The girl behind the counter is an American. Miss Helen Grannis of Boston. The counter is an American Red Cross packing case while the setting is pure Albanian. The picture was taken at a Red Cross clothing station in the Albanian mountains. The chap with the striking trousers to the left is assisting the Red Cross girl while the turbaned gentlemen with his back to the camera and seated comfortably on the "Chemises Girls 5 to 16 years", is the tribal chieftan who is there to see that none of his people impose upon the generous Americans
