Vietnam Veterans Memorial competition submission drawing

Architectural drawing shows a proposal for a Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., in the form of a United States flag. A grove of 50 trees represents the field of stars, and granite bands inscribed with names represent the stripes. Drawing includes site plan, elevation, section, renderings, and text.
From the text: "... a grove of fifty trees ... names are memorialized in granite bands. ... it is draped softly over a grass mound like a flag over a warrior's grave."
Drawing not signed; attribution based on information found in acquisition record. According to Winthrop Faulkner the design was created by Wilkes, Faulkner, Jenkins and Bass. Denzil Jenkins was primary designer and the draftsman of the drawing.
