Summary

Photographic survey of the Napoleonic campaign (also called Fatherland War) area. Includes views of historic sites, battlefields, monuments, and artifacts relating to the Franco-Russian war of 1812. Also includes scenic views of the region's cities, towns, and villages. Religious facilities (cathedrals, monasteries, churches, and chapels) and religious artifacts (icons, censers, crosses, iconostases, and sepulchres) are also documented, along with castles, palaces, fortresses, and bridges. Several images, taken in the Borodino Museum, show war-related artifacts.

Hand-written Russian captions accompany most prints.
