Washington Historic District, Old Washington, Mason County, KY
Summary
Significance: Established in 1969, the Washington Historic District encompasses most of the original town of Washington, founded in 1786. The district site plan contains the central portion of the historic district, including residential and commercial structures which span a century of building styles. Also included are portions of original limestone sidewalks and the sites of several wells, part of the first public water system west of the Alleghenies.
