Production. B-24 bombers and C-87 transports. Mighty warship of the air that will soon be ready for "launching." New consolidated transport plane get a fueling and final checkup before leaving the assembly line of a Western aircraft plant. This new transport, an adaptation of the B-24 bomber, is known as the C-87 and carries one of the greatest human or cargo loads of any plane now in mass production. It is built in a plant equipped with one of the best and most modern air conditioning and fluorescent lighting systems in the county

Significance: Originally installed by the American Brass Company in 1917-18, this hand-operated rolling mill was placed on line in 1918. Workers manipulated hot billets through the rolling mill, producing copper and non-ferrous alloys for the electrical industry. This production activity was housed in a building, called the No. 31 Hot Roll Mill, in the Kenosha Works of the American Brass Company. The mill operated for about seventy years, closing in 1988.
