Chinn House (Remains), Groveton, Prince William County, Virginia
Summary
Significance: The Chinn House was originally one of the Manassas battlefields. In 1861-1862 it was used as a hospital in both battles and was a landmark mentioned many times in reports of the battles. The Chinn House was frame and had a redstone foundation, with paired brick chimneys at either end. This building stood in a ruinous condition for years, was razed to foundation level in 1950 and stabilized to serve as an historic marker. The cellar excavation has been filled-in.
