Significance: Building U-D is a contributing element of the Mare Island Historic District. Building U-D is a minor building that nonetheless contributes to the historic scene at Quarters U and the other homes along Cedar Avenue. The building is of interest chiefly to the extent that it illustrates the continuing trend of providing for servants' housing in officers' quarters constructed at Mare Island.
