Summary
Significance: Although recent repairs have covered some of the original masonry, Guard Lock 5 West and its adjacent canal prism at Saxon Falls are well preserved and nearly intact. The term "guard lock" refers to a lock that helps to maintain the water level of a large body of water on either side of the lock, in this case Saxon Lake.
