Summary

Significance: Built 1869 for Captain Joseph Kinney by St. Louis architects at a cost of $50,000 and surrounded by a magnificent grove of giant maple and tulip trees, it was for many years the "show place" of
this locality. The furnishings of the parlor, the drapes, the wallpaper, the carpets and chandeliers, are original. The house also contains an interesting group of portraits including a number of Bingham and Conant. Called "Kinney's Folly" because then on river bank. Run as museum by Kinney's three daughters.
