Significance: Built at the turn of the century by descendants of Irish colonists who settled on the Gulf Coast of Texas. The ranch house of Frank Booth Rooke and Roberta Driscoll Rooke was the headquarters for the vast ranching empire known as La Rose near Refugio, Refugio County, Texas. The 7,500 square foot structure built in the Victorian Queen Anne style was attributed to architect Charles Lutenbacher.
