Summary
Significance: Built for a wealthy cotton broker in 1823, Rosalie influenced the design and construction of houses throughout the lower Mississippi Valley. Palatial proportions and Victorian detail represent antebellum opulence. During the Civil War, the house served as Federal headquarters for the Natchez area, beginning in July 1863.
