Subcontracting (Beery and Sons). The terms of a small contract for walnut-picking machinery (necessary for gas mask production) given the shop of Beery and Sons, Harrisonburg, Virginia, required the turning out of four units per hour. A special jig was made for this punch press by workers at the shop, and the production stepped up to fifty units per hour
