U.S. Naval Base, Pearl Harbor, Bachelor Officers' Quarters, Saratoga Boulevard between Hancock Avenue & Yorktown Boulevard, Pearl City, Honolulu County, HI

Significance: Facility No. 78 was built in 1940 as part of the development of housing facilities for the Naval Air Station at Ford Island in the period preceding World War II. Facility No. 78 provided housing for the increasing number of bachelor officers arriving at Ford Island. Facility No. 78 is also significant as an example of International-style design by noted Hawaii architect Charles W. Dickey. This building also was used as a shelter to treat those wounded during the attack of December 7, 1941. This building is a contributing element of the Pearl Harbor National Historic Landmark.
