Walnut-Dollison Historic District, 510 South Dollison Avenue (House), 510 South Dollison Avenue, Springfield, Greene County, MO

description

Summary

Significance: This frame building is one of many speculatively built rental houses erected along South Dollison Avenue around the turn of the century. It was occupied for a time around 1905 by traveling salesman A.A. Hamel, who later built the large bungalow next door at 900 East Elm. Picturesquely massed with some classical detailing, the house is a typical and well-preserved example of the late Victorian architecture of the time - a common house type.
