Washington leaves home at Mt. Vernon for first inaugural. Mt. Vernon, Virginia April 16. 'George Washington' is bid a fond adieu by his wife 'Martha' as he leaves his home today for New York City to repeat his first inaugural [à] of 150 years ago. Washington, portrayed by Denys Wortman, is traveling by a horse drawn coach and will make many stops for ceremonial receptions during the reenactment of the historic journey. The trip is being sponsored by the United States Constitution Sesquicentennial Commission, the New York World's Fair, and many other patriotic, historical, and civic organizations.
