Woodstock, 8706 South East Crain Highway (U.S. Route 301), Upper Marlboro, Prince George's County, MD
Summary
Significance: Woodstock is an excellent example of a mid 19th-century plantation dwelling executed in the side-hall-and-double-parlor plan, popular in the county during the 1820s to 1850s. Although less ornate than those built by more wealthy planters on larger plantations, the Greek Revival detailing of Woodstock is elegantly understated, and its architectural integrity well maintained. It is a somewhat later, more vernacular adaptation of a popular building form. The ca. 1850s main block is joined by an addition to an earlier kitchen structure.
