Gardenor, Detroit Times Reporter, told the House Committee investigating Un-American affairs. Representatives of the Washington branch of the American League for Peace and Democracy took up signs today and picketed the Italian Embassy. It was a variety of long-distance picketing, however, for police kept demonstrators at a distance of 500 feet from the Embassy. The group protested Fascist and Nazi conquests and establishment of various 'protectorates' in Europe. 4-8-39

Representatives of the Washington branch of the American League for Peace and Democracy took up signs today and picketed the Italian Embassy. It was a variety of long-distance picketing, however, for police kept demonstrators at a distance of 500 feet from the Embassy. The group protested Fascist and Nazi conquests and establishment of various 'protectorates' in Europe. 4-8-39

Photographed while appearing before a senate committee on Maritime affairs, while Curran testified that, "compulsory" use of mediation should be delayed until labor in the industry is thoroughly organized.
