Summary
Birds-eye view engraving shows battlefield with large numbers of troops fighting. In the foreground are soldiers on horseback with guns and swords, some fallen soldiers and horses are seen. Smoke rises in numerous places around the battlefield. In the distance are hills and forest. The July 19, 1702 battle took place near Kliszów, Poland-Lithuania, during the Great Northern War where the larger Polish-Saxon army was defeated by the Swedish army under the command of King Charles XII. Also included is an inset allegorical medallion portrait of Charles XII of Sweden. Three lines of engraving below the top image provides a key to explain items numbered 1-14 in the battle scene print.
