Summary

Significance: The Maple Street Bridge is a contributing resource within the proposed Summit Historic District. The Maple Street Bridge is a component of an early grade separation project executed by the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad in New Jersey during the first quarter of the twentieth century. The Maple Street Bridge is a typical example of a steel through plate girder bridge, the most prevalent bridge type used during the DL&W's grade separation work.
