One of the ARC hospitals in London, "Baroda House," which is being used exclusively for orthopedic cases. The word "hospital" associated as it is with sickness and suffering is a misnomer here, and the atmosphere is wholly unlike that of the ordinary hospital. The patients are army officers long since discharged from the surgical hospitals and now undergoing treatment designed to restore injured members to proper functions and use. The house was donated by A Dhoster Beatty, a wealthy American mining Engineer. He is seen standing on the bottom step with the Chief Nurse, Miss M.J. Hay of N.Y. the secretary, Miss Lillian Thornton, and three of the patients

There is an atmosphere of quiet, concentrated effort about the ARC workrooms in London that delights a visitor who believes in efficiency. Here in the fifteen big rooms devoted to the manufacture of surgical dressings and hospital garments, there is mo spasmodic bustle, but the rythmic continuous movement of an accurately adjusted machine, the calm assurance of a well-organized effort. The workrooms are now turning out more than 500,000 article monthly

Its beautiful parquetry floor, kept in a high state of polished perfection, positively implores to be danced on. The long windows on the Grosvenor place, side opening on to a balcony, which looks straight out over the grounds of Buckingham Palace, where King George and Queen Mary may often be seen walking about
