U.S. Naval Base, Pearl Harbor, Pier & Yacht Club Marine Railways, End of Lanakila Avenue, Pearl City, Honolulu County, HI

description

Summary

Significance: Facility No. S649 was originally a civilian-constructed pier used by the Pearl Harbor Yacht Club. Although some sections of the pier are deteriorated, it retains substantial integrity. The remnants of the yacht club's marine railways and clubhouse on the abutting parcel are related historic features. The pier and the marine railways embody distinctive characteristics of a type, period, and method of construction. The history of the parcel and its facilities are associated with the pre-war Yacht Club and with the Navy during WWII. The Navy's Sub-Section Base was located on this part of Pearl City Peninsula during the war.
