AMERICAN RED CROSS headquarters at Chateau Thierry, May 30th. The AMERICAN RED CROSS had been installed in Chateau Thierry for about a month and were about to open a dispensary, when orders come to evacuate the town. The A.R.C. helped the refugees to leave and took baggage for them in camions. The picture shows a camion (on the right) being loaded with refugees effects, and on the right sic, should be left loading a camion with A.R.C. supplies. Since Chateau Thierry has been reconquered the A.R.C. has resumed work there

The American Red Cross found the Roumanians destitute of all medical supplies after the armistice. Clinics and hospitals were unable to care for the many patients that crowded into them. Many carloads of surplus Red Cross stock was shipped into the country, enabling such dispensaries as the home pictured here to carry on medical work on a normal scale

The American Red Cross opened on this ground a rest station which includes canteen, baths and officers' room. The men in the picture have just been fed at the canteen and each one has received the gift of a handkerchief and cigarettes
