Dispensaries, doctors, and nurses operating under the direction of the American Red Cross are helping to lessen the strain of war upon the children of France. Paris and its suburbs have 12 dispensaries for mothers and children similar to this one which are being operated bby the Red Cross. The need of them is exemplified by the report on the investigation of the 14th arrondisement of the city which with 125,000 inhabitants has approximately 2,000 births and 400 deaths per thousand babies annually
