General Pershing gets first American Legion poppy. The American Legion poppy drive was officially opened in Washington today when General John J. Pershing received a buddy poppy from Mrs. Louise W. Williams, a national president of the American Legion Auxiliary. The poppies are made each year by disabled World War veterans in various hospitals and sold to aide the American Legion in their many charitable enterprises. 3/19/32
