Naval Supply Annex Stockton, Transit Shed Rail Yard Type, Between Pinter & Gilliss Avenues below rail yard, Stockton, San Joaquin County, CA

Significance: Buildings 619 and 719 are contributing elements of the Naval Supply Annex Stockton Historic District. The historic district was determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places under criteria A and C, for its role in supplying the fleet during World War II and as an important example of new warehouse design developed during World War II. Specifically, Naval Supply Annex Stockton was the first Navy supply depot to be built entirely to accommodate palletized cargo. Buildings 619 and 719 were directly related to the palletized cargo handling operation and other supply functions; it was one of a cluster of warehouses built in an area south of Fyffe Avenue, below the public work sector. Building 619 is one of two transit-shed type buildings in the railroad area; the other was Building 719.
