The lamp carriers - Public domain scan / drawing

Drawing shows three men carrying oil lamps. The scene probably takes place in Norway in the 1850s or in Russia in the 1860s. Bayard Taylor traveled through Norway and Scandinavia in 1856 and 1857, after the death of his first wife. He served as the charg d'affaires for the Russian legation in 1862-63.
