The photograph shows the Queen of Roumania visiting a typhus hospital near Bucharest. The hospital was operated by the Roumanian authorities, but was equipped throughout by the American Red Cross. Before the American beds, blankets, etc. arrived the patients were sleeping on the floors. The hospital is located in an old school building. It had only four large rooms, but accomodates more than a hundred patients
