Summary
Birds-eye view print shows plan of the fortress city of Landau (Landau an der Pfaltz), Germany and map with surrounding villages of Damm, Queichheim and Godramstein as well as locations of mills and chapels. In the upper left hand corner of the print is a medallion portrait of Holy Roman emperor Joseph I with motto "Josephus I. Romanorum Hic Rex" and with allegorical imbellishments of crown, eagle and angel blowing a trumpet. Items identified in the print are labelled A-L with the explanatory key written on the banner unfurled below the trump in the upper left hand corner of the print. Text begins: "Accords-Puncta der Stadt und Vestung Landau, wie solche auf Ordre Ihr. Rom. Königl. Majes. zwischen des Kays. General-Lieutenant Marggrafen Ludwig Wilhelms zu Baaden Höchst. Durchl. und dem Frantzösis. General-Gubernatoren dieser Vestung, Monsr. Laubonie, den 25. Nov. 1704, wegen Ubergabe dieses Platzes abgehandelt und beschlossen worden". [Terms of the agreement drawn up on November 25, 1704 for the city and fortress of Landau for surrender of this place negotiated and agreed by order of his royal imperial majesty between the his serene imperial general Lieutenant Margrave Ludwig of Baden and the French General governor of the fortress Monsieur Laubonie].
