Conrad Freitag enlisted in the 84th Infantry (New York) in 1862 as a private. He was wounded at Laurel Hill, Virginia in 1864 and mustered out in 1865 from the Ladies Home Hospital as a Corporal. His regiment participated in the Winter Campaign, Gettysburg, and the Wilderness Campaign. (Source: American Civil War Research Database).
