Summary
Print shows a certificate to certify that someone served as a volunteer in the "Volunteer Army of the United States in obedience to the call of A. Lincoln, President to suppress the Southern Rebellion of 1861." Includes space to record dates of service and battles in which he participated. Illustrated with bust portraits of Abraham Lincoln and U.S. Grant on the upper corners, an eagle with wings spread over "Liberty and Union" at top center. Also Union soldiers holding flags on the bottom corners, with tents, a cannon, and a wounded artillery soldier leaning on a drum at bottom center. And at bottom, space for recording the "Commandg. Regt." and "Commandg. Compy."
