True patriotism. Washington, D.C., March 10. Miss Myrtle Powell, Richmond, Virginia, today told the Senate Education and Labor Subcommittee that she would "defend America against all aggressors against our democracy." The statement was made shortly after Carl Ross, Executive Secretary of the Young Comminist League, refused to answer when asked if he would defend the American flag with arms against the Russian flag in the event there was a war. Miss Powell, a member of the National Business and Professional Women's Council of the Y.W.C.A., urged passage of the American Youth Act, 3/10/38
