New Chief of Bureau of Navigation sworn in. Washington, D.C., June 15. Rear Admiral Chester W. Nimitz today assumed duties as Chief of the Bureau of Navigation, relieving Rear Admiral J.O. Richardson who was ordered to duty with the rank of Admiral as Commander, Battle Force, U.S. Fleet, to assume that command about June 24 aboard the battleship California.
